Lundi Van Niekerk

Dr Lindi van Niekerk is a medical doctor with expertise in primary health care, public health, social innovation and service delivery innovation. Lindi started her career as a clinician in South Africa and has worked across primary, secondary and tertiary levels of care. She has designed and led several projects including the first public sector hospital-based end of life care programme in Cape Town; pioneered an innovation lab for healthcare workers and produced the first South African Health Innovators Review. Lindi was the principal investigator for the Social Innovation in Health Initiative in 2015, conducting extensive research on different social innovation models across Africa and Asia and in 2017, she is supporting the establishment of three new country-hubs for social innovation.

She holds a Masters in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and is currently a PhD candidate. She also consults as a technical advisor on social innovation for several organisations. Lindi believes that dignified healthcare can be delivered by restoring hope and empowering actors on the frontlines.
